Contestant 12 Grzegorz Niemczuk from Poland is a regular at the Winner’s podium of piano competitions around the World. It will be a thrill to see him at Top of the World in Tromsø.

Niemczuk is a bit of a cosmopolitan, performing regularly in all the European countries, USA and Australia, giving more than 40 concerts and recitals every year, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician.
In 2009 he graduated with the highest distinction from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. He started off as a student under Jozef Stompel (prize winner of International Chopin’s Piano Competition in Warsaw, George Enescu Piano Competition in Bucuresti) in 2001, and finished his studies in chamber music, with prof. Regina Michalak as his teatcher.

As a scholarship holder of International Keyboard Institute & Festival in 2008 and 2009, he continued his studies in New York City (Mannes College).

He is a Laureate of 40th National Frederick Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2010(1st Prize), 9th “EPTA” International Piano Competition in Waterloo in 2009 (1st Prize), 43rd Festival of Polish Piano Art in Slupsk, 3rd Festival “Chopin of the Young” in Konin in 2008 (1st Prize), “Janet and William Schwartz Scholarship Award” in New York City in 2008, 11th International Piano Competition “Stefano Marizza” in Trieste in 2007 (1st Prize), 6th International Piano Competition in Zabrze in 2003 (1st Prize). Now it remains to see whether he will repeat the feat at Top of the World.
