Lars Fredrik Nystad (born 1991) is a Norwegian pianist who in the last years has established himself among Norway’s foremost young musicians. He made his debut as a soloist in 2012 with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and has collaborated with conductors such as Eivind Gullberg- Jensen and Torodd Wigum. At present he is studying at the prestigious Soloist Diploma program at the Norwegian Academy of Music, with Professor Sveinung Bjelland as his teacher.
Lars has been playing the piano since he was six years old and at thirteen he was admitted as student at the Young Talents Academy of the Barratt Due Institute of Music. Here he studied for six years with Marina Pliassova as his teacher, followed by studies at the bachelor level with Prof. Jiri Hlinka, and then with Prof. Einar Steen-Nøkleberg.
Lars won 1st prize at the 2013 Norwegian National Youth Music Competition, and 1st prize at the 2014 Chamber Music Competition, Norwegian Academy of Music.
